Post Treatment Care for Cellulite Reduction

Cellulite is caused when there is a reduction of elastin & collagen within the body & thus collagen fibres begin to separate. When this happens, fat cells begin to push through this loose connective tissue, revealing the appearance of cellulite. With our treatments using Radio Frequency & cavitation, we can assist in reducing the appearance of cellulite. With this in mind there are many things we can do post-treatment to further optimise results and support our treatments.

Cellulite Post Treatment Care

Now that the hard part is over and you have tackled how to get rid of cellulite using one of Body Catalyst’s non-invasive procedures, it’s time to think about post care. During the Post Cellulite Reduction Treatment Care phase it is important to consider the following:

Increase water intake

This will improve circulation, lymphatic flow and keeps you well hydrated. It keeps your connective tissue strong. Water is required for all reactions within the body, therefore fat loss through the lipolysis process requires water to actually burn the fat for energy. It is also required to flush out excess toxins within the body, which in turn will aid in the prevention of collagen break down & support reduction of cellulite. Dehydration can also cause and promote the growth of cellulite if toxins can’t be excreted or flushed out with fluid intake. Ensure at least 1.5-2L of water daily.

Collagen Supplementation- (Hydrolysed collagen peptides)

Collagen assists in skin elasticity, allowing the skin to get tighter, smoother, strengthening the dermis layer of the skin, reducing the appearance of cellulite. Collagen supplementation stimulates the body’s own production of collagen and  It also repairs damaged collagen that is already there.  Collagen peptide supplementation is best in powder form, taken daily in water or in a smoothie.

Exercise

Getting your body up and moving will help strengthen the skin and tone the body to reduce the appearance of cellulite. It will help prevent the weakening of connective  fibres therefore reducing the further development of cellulite. If your cellulite treatment is both radio frequency and cavitation, then 20 minutes of cardio movement (elevated heart rate) immediately post treatment will assist in using the energy/burning the fat that is released during the cavitation session. Also implementing weight/resistance  training through your week  to help build muscle to allow the skin to strengthen, reducing the appearance of cellulite and  increasing muscle tone to improve the body’s ability to burn more fat.

Dry brushing

This assists in getting more blood flow & circulation to the areas of concern, to allow the skin to strengthen. It helps mobilise the fat under the skin and redistribute it to reduce the appearance of cellulite as well as assisting in the flushing out of toxins.

Improving food choices

Good nutrition will assist in keeping the skin quite firm and elastic, and many foods can actually cause the breakdown of the skin and collagen, revealing cellulite & ageing skin. Supporting protein synthesis and collagen production through increasing protein in the diet is optimal. Ensuring snacks are protein rich to also balance blood sugar levels to avoid snacking on foods high in refined sugar and trans fats. Building more muscle will assist in the reduction in the appearance of cellulite as the more muscle you have, the more fat you burn. Increasing protein intake will aid in improving muscle tone, if you are regularly moving and exercising.

Vitamin C (green leafy vegetables, kiwi fruit, oranges, green & red peppers, broccoli)  & zinc (nuts, seeds, oysters, meat, wholegrains) rich foods will assist in ensuring the skin is strengthened and preventing that loss of collagen. Bone broth is an incredible source of collagen, try to have one cup daily with a snack or meal.

Avoiding pro-inflammatory foods such as refined sugars, dairy, gluten, trans fats, oxidised oils is beneficial as these will cause the breakdown of collagen through initiating an immune response within the body to release the enzyme which breaks down collagen.

Trying to consume fresh whole fruits & vegetables, lean meats, oily fish, wholegrains, nuts & seeds will assist in ensuring the body has all the nutrients it needs to reduce inflammation,  flush out excess toxins & support the body from the inside out, creating a wholesome body that you are confident and happy to live in.
